Given the choice, a wide-band would be more useful, since the narrow-band ones are only accurate when you're right around 14.7:1. In fact, they're really not much good outside of 14-15:1 range. A wide-band sensor can accurately measure from 10-20:1.

Wide-band sensors generally require a specific gauge, since the voltage output varies over a wider range. A narrow-band sensor voltage might only swing from 0-1V, where a wide-band sensor might go from 1-3V.

What do you want it for

IMO unless you want a light that goes back and forth like the one on "Kits" hood the narrow band is worthless. If you actually want to tune with it I would go beyond just a wide-band to one that can acutally log data against rpm and time.

you only want a wide band. A narrow band will tell you nothing other than.. well... other than... you have a blinking light like the kit reference in the earlier post

The wideband 02 is the only way to go. It will actually tell you what you need/want to know.

Don't waste your time with a narrow band.

i don't mean to come across as negative. I just want to make sure you don't waste your hard earned dollars!

The way I look at it, is this could be cheap insurance, even though my car is not the most mod car on the street, I think its to the point it would be nice to be able to monitor the air/fuel. here is a list of what the car has, tell me what you think, should i be worried?

2004 JCW
-jcw injectors,
-jcw ecu upgrade to go with injectors
-Shcrick cam
-2% crank pulley
-alta intcooler
-alta CAI
- soon to be installed is a custom tuned Unichip!

Thanks for all the input!
