MCAW Auto up / 1st mod complete!

woo hoo!

1st mod complete. i've been aching to add my recently purchased MCAW from Outmotoring.com and just did it in less than 20 minutes!

Suggestions:
1) watch the video at www.mcaw.info regarding installation AND programming. The programming video is so much more direct and simplified than the instructions!

2) the latch on the back of the plug is confusing. there a button like lock on it you push in gently, then the latch comes off very easily

3) you don't want to force the pins connected but they also don't slide in very easily either (mcaw connecting to harness), work with it patiently until it plugs in ;o)

4) once you've connected the mcaw to the harness, plugging the moded harness in to the back of the toggle panel is a piece of cake!

Best $50 mod bang for the buck imho.

ps I know there are plently of threads out there on this topic but I thought I'd post a new one as it was so easy and I'm stoked

excellent and good to know it's a simple mod. Did you take the spirited 1 hour test drive to see how it acts under real world conditions?

Auto-up was my first mod, too. But I went with Ian Cull's circuit.

Since them I added stripes (pro installed), grill badge holder, euro parcel shelf and aux input (all self installed).

Let's see if you get bit by the mod bug, too.

I noticed it says its a 2 tap auto switch. Is there one out there that is a one touch auto switch or can the MCAW work with just 1 tap to go up?

Absolutely! The MCAW actually has 4 different modes of roll up available to choose from. The double click just seems to be the most common.

Mode 0 – Disabled
Mode 1 - Single click auto roll up.
Mode 2 - Double click auto roll up.
Mode 3 - Click and hold auto roll up.
Mode 4 (Driver's side) - Enhanced double click roll up.
With this mode two short clicks will roll up the driver's windows. A short click followed by a long click will roll up both windows. When using this mode, release the second click when you see the passengers’ window begin to move up.
.
Hope this helps.

ThereIsNoSpoon, thanks for the practical tips. This will likely be my next mod, as I am getting serious abuse from my Audi driving friend who has this option stock.

Watch out for those Agents!

Has anyone experience trouble getting the OutMotoring "Basic Auto Up" to go into program mode?

I got the circuit in, green light on, windows go up & down (normal op) but I can't get the circuit to go into program mode.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Randy, I found the problem... The website links to old directions. A friend found the new ones for me and now it works.

Thanks for closing the loop and letting us know that you're up and running.

My first mod (of many to come it looks like) and very easy. It's so nice to have one touch down and up!
