Have you tried the "pound the snot out of the kick panel on the door" method?
It did help when my window would not operate - a sharp blow to the lower door panel worked for about 6-months ... then, when both windows stopped working, I brought it to my dealer (1-1/2 Hours away) for repairs.
This problem has been posted before.

Bad Motors

MINIs/bmws are known to have bad window motors. Get them replaced by the dealer under warranty. Make sure both are replaced and if the other one is ok now, lie because it will go bad soon also. Peace.

If you're still under warranty, yes, have them replaced. If you're not, check salvage yards- things like wiper and window motors are seldom damaged whatsoever when a car is wrecked, and there are used parts places all over the web that ship - getting one there can save you quite a bit of money, if that's an issue.

Not sure I would go to a salvage yard for that. I'd do the install myself, but the rumor I heard is that the new motor has some improvement to it.

I don't think I've ever bought a new motor for wipers or for windows- I always go salvage. On Toyotas, for example, I're purchased replacements for $12 that cost $75 or more new. they always have worked fine.

Of course, it's a moot point if he's still under warranty.

My 2004 was starting to make noises

My 2004 MCS passenger side window was beginning to make noises (18,500 mi) and the dealer had to replace the window regulator (is that the motor?...luckily under warranty). Guess this is very common with Mini's
