HELP! My stereo no longer recognizes my Aux Input.

Hi everyone!

So, last Spring I installed the aux input into my MCS. Worked like a charm! The stereo instantly recognized the aux input and I was able to connect my iPod. Happy motoring! Last month I started up my MINI and noticed that the aux mode was not available! D'oh! Please note, this was after not driving for around a month in the early part of Winter, so the battery discharged quite a bit (yeah, yeah... I'm using a battery conditioner now ). I've done everything I can think of to try to remedy this. I've unplugged and replugged it. I've disconnected and connected my battery. Also, I've confirmed that the wiring harness is fine. I installed it on another MINI and it works perfectly. Does anyone have any idea why this happened and how I might go about resolving it?

BTW, I simply popped the knee bolster beneath the steering wheel and reached behind the stereo to insert the wiring harness into the back of the stereo. Yeah, there's no need to remove down tubes and pull out the stereo. Why spend $200 or more at your dealership to have them drill holes in your glove box? Click here for the instructions I used, care of Sean Bartnik. Thanks Sean!

All the best!

Mine recognizes it when it feels like it. And when it is working, it will only work for about ten minutes before it swithces to another mode.

I had the same issue with my 05 MCS and installed a ground loop isolator. Works like a chram and had no issues ever since. I had been to the dealer about this issue many times and when I told them that i fixed it and what I did and they were shocked. I got this unit from radio shack:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062214

The mini's electrical system has noise in the lines and when the xm radio is plugged into the car, it emits noise in the audio feed which causes the aux input to be fussy and not work!

The Radio Shack GLI comes with one adapter to 1/8" audio plug. What did you do for the other end? Is there a part number for anohter 1/8" adapter?

I used the Radio Shack GLI also, but found this one:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ty0Wni9...90&I=127SNI135
It is much smaller and works just as well.

It actually worked that way for me because it was going between a dvd player's rca's and the aux cable, but if you go the store I am sure you can find the other stereo rca to 1/8 adapter.

I saw the crutchfield too but wanted to pick one up right away so went straight to radio shack.
