Another driving light install question.

I am in the process of installing my new PIAA 510's (well helping). we have got the brackets installed with the lights on (did it yesterday) they look good and are quite sturdy. Now it is wiring time. The wire is routed and getting it hooked up seems quite logical. though here is the question part, if we push the wiring through the grommet where does it come out inside the car for us to grab and install the switch off of. I know I need to remove my parcel shelf, when we shove the put the wires through the rubber grommet will I be able to reach them? I am sure this is quite obvious, but I just don't see it.

2006 MC cvt - no mods under the hood.

Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to see the wires - actually i found it easier to go from the inside out.

I have no problem with the wiring, it is the brackets that are causing me grief. There are a couple of plastic pieces at the top of the bonnet right where the 'back' attachment of the bracket goes (the plastic pieces cover holes in the inner bonnet skin). I can't work out how to get the plastic pieces out so that, a: so i can firmly attach the bracket and b: so i can put the wires in there.

What did you do?

Are you talking about the oblong plastic bits on the inside of the heatsheild? Try putting a small screwdriver in there to disengage one of the clips. When one of the clips gets out it is realllll easy to get the others out. We will be cutting out some of it for the brackets. Not too hard. When you go and try to put the washers and nuts on those screws - I recommend putting a piece of tape on your finger - sticky side out - to hold the washer on while you try to fit it on the screw.

We still have to actually get the wiring installed - we ran out of light yesterday. The lights look good though!

Sidenote: Anyone have any luck cutting off the "PIAA" letters of their PIAA grills? Going to paitn them black, but would prefer to remove them. Thanks!

I'll be more bold and get in there with a screwdriver. I figured I'd have to cut some out for the bracket. Thought I'd just put bracket in place and score it, then use the dremel gotta - love that baby:-)

I wondered about the nuts too. I have a telescopic magnet, I thought I'd attach the nut to that to hold it. My other thought was to ditch the nuts and bolts altogehter and go with rivets like the OEM install. Thoughts...

Rivets are much sturdier than the bolts are.

I got some stainless rivets and used my air powered riveter to get the job done.
