Current Gen1 LED H7 solution?

ModMini published this video
6 years ago about swapping out the H7 bulb for a LED- looks great. But the parts he specified are no longer available.

Has anyone done this mod recently and successfully, and what part(s) did you use?

Thanks.

What specific parts are you referring to? I plugged some H7 leds in and they work absolutely fine. I bought some from Aliexpress (LEDs with the fan on the back). The dust cap is off, so the fan can blow the warm air out.

If you must go with an LED ... and truly want an upgrade ... and not actually loose performance or have really scattered light ... the GTR LIGHTING Ultra 2 bulbs are really the only bright upgrade with good color on the market IMO... I’ve tried the best from Morimoto, Lasfit, Phillips, XenonDepot and lots of others...

LED’s are great items ... the tech developments of drop-in bulbs is only now just starting to get good.

The Morimoto 2stroke 3.0 is a nice bulb, great tech... and in actual use I’d say about equal to stock in terms of performance but with better color.

Check out this thread with lots of pix and info.... I’ve done more trial and error with the lighting on the 53 than most...

A stellar high beam upgrade is simply the plug and play Osram CBB bulbs in that thread ... about $25 for the bulbs shipped ... no errors and color matches the HID’s in the car well ... I’ve had them on one of my 53’s for over a year now ... they are amazing and a true performance upgrade ... I bought 2 sets so I have a spare on hand if needed ... local sourcing is impossible

Great suggestion, thanks- and no chance of a CANBUS revolution.

Ordered.

Which option are you going with?

also... most R53 HID D2S bulbs are ‘tired’ by now... a refresh with top notch bulbs in the main-beams like the ones in the other thread can make a big difference in your lighting performance as well ... since the mains are on even when the high-beam is active...
