Carly works with my generic adapter... However, they do lock out collecting certain freeze frame data from retrieval unless you purchase their proprietary adapter. For general coding and diagnostics, a generic adapter works just fine.

As I was thinking of buying original Carly when they had 25% off.
The parameters I changed using the generic OBD scanner pertained to the body, ie bulb checking, daytime driving lights, dock unlocking, etc. Other engine control functions may or may not work with the generic device I would be surprised if something didn't work.
Well I bought Bimmercode App for $54; the codes are gone and also the flicker. the good think I wrote to the lights supplier HIKARI on amazon and they offer to pay for this :
