wiring harness

i am putting the wiring harness on the engine right now and i have found something that i cant figure out where it goes... is there a large (using 10 wires) circular plug somewhere under the bonnet that doesnt plug into anything else and is used as a diagnostic plug or something like that?

There is another circular plug that does have a use that looks nearly the same as the one im talking about.. im not taliking about that one...

thanks in advance

Generally the wiring harness is assembled such that when it's laid into position, the various connectors are in the vicinity of where they connect. I can't say that I recall seeing such a plug anywhere under the hood of my MCS, your car is a MC, but there isn't much difference between them in the grand sense. The diagnostics are done at the OBD port under the dash now.

just found something out... i found some of the remains of the old wiring harness and one of the things that survived was the tag with the production date... the one that was melted was made on 11-2002 and the one that i got on ebay was made on 4-2003... but they are both 2003 coopers

Does anyone know if there is much of a difference between these two dates and if the later one will work on an earlier car?
