Interference installing Nuvi 2798 backup camera in 2008 Cooper S
I initially posted in the wrong section...
I have installed this nuvi 2798 into my 2008 Mini Cooper S and the backup camera works for about 10 secs then turns off as if power was removed.
I have the camera and wireless transmitter wired to my backup lights, blue/gray -power and brown - ground. If I press the start button for a very short time then quickly move to reverse I'll be in reverse without the car running. In this mode the backup camera works fine as long as I don't start the car. When I do it lasts for about 10 secs and switches to navigation mode. It will not work again until I shut off power to the car and restart.
I've installed this same GPS with another camera in my 2001 vette and it works fine. With the vette in storage I'd hoped to use this nice 7in GPS in the Mini. My guess is there's some sort of radio interference but I have no idea what could be running at 2.4 ghz in the Cooper.
Anyone else run into this issue?

I'm moved my display to within 1.5 feet of the transmitter and still have the disconnection. Then I thought it might have been my 3rd brake light pulsar but I pulled that and it had the same results. So I'm buying a DC voltage regulator,
and seeing if that helps.
Amazon.com: DROK™ LM2596 Adjustable Voltage Regulator 4.0-40V to 1.25-37V DC Converter 36V to 24V to 12V to 5V Car Motorcycle Buck Step Down Variable Volt Power Supply with Red Voltmeter Display: Electronics
and seeing if that helps.
