I did delete the app and reinstall a few times. I've definitely had better luck with the kiwi but still a bit odd.

Maybe it is the OBD port on the car?

Have you tried the device and app on another car to see if they are working ok or do the problems show up with that car also?

The only reason I ask is that my bluetooth unit works fine with my MINI and android, but if I plug the unit into my wife's RAM truck, it won't connect at all.

Doesn't make sense since it is supposed to by a standard. However, I just figure there is a bad pin on the RAM or something.

I was starting to wonder that same thing. I haven't tried this on another vehicle.

So I tried the el cheapo elm on my wife's 2010 MCS without any issues whatsoever. I'm now thinking that I might want to contact the dealer for a possible faulty obd2 port in the car itself.

I had the car into the dealer for the diagnostic port. No issues were found. I was instructed by a tech from Palmer to raise the minimum BUS idle to 20 to see if it helped. Since then I've had it randomly shut down the car at home and on my drive to Rhode Island it caused a quick hesitation in throttle as I was pushing 80 down the highway.

My car was one of those rare cases where it didn't want to play well with the elm interface. I switched over to Bluetooth and it's been working well well with no issues! Thank you John at PPE!

Don't mean to hijack but I'm running a vgate and it doesn't stay connected. While car is running its fine but turn the car off and when I go to restart I have to unplug and plug it back in to get it to turn back on. Any ideas??? I bought it thinking it'd be a lil better then the real cheap ones but only had it 2 days and getting tired of unplugging and replugging it in.

I'm not too sure. I never had enough time with the vGate. I had trouble with the elm devices right from the start.
