H13 LEDs in Headlights

All,

I was given a pair of headlights from a friend and they are the halogen type. I am curious if I would be able to put the linked LED bulbs into them Without any issues. I am stuck between using LED or HID. I really don't want to spend the money and time on HID in a halogen setup. Just doesn't seem worth it. I have an open mind to the situation so what are you guys opinions? As a note, the reason I want to use these housings is because they are pat of my black out plans (this friend has already put the effort into blacking them out). Thanks in advance!

Those LEDs or anything that is drop-in at this point in time will not be as bright as the stock halogens. HIDs in halogen housings is just as bad of an idea, it will be brighter but also blinding for everyone around you with the new-found glare.

If you want more light a true retrofit is in order. Order supplies from TRS

The style led bulb in your link is pretty dated....cheap...but dated.
Putting 50 low powered LEDs on a shaft...and then putting a base on it...and expecting it to work ok with lens optics, made for ONE POINT OF LIGHT is, imo, foolhardy at best. Bet the light output of the one linked to is pretty low....I have a older led interior panel that fit into the overhead...better than the oem bulb...but the 10 mini LEDs (like onevones used in the light) were needed...
Today you can get single LEDs... More $$$...that can match a 35 watt halogen for household lights....so I would skip even trying them.

Thanks you guys for your answers. It seems my suspicions are now confirmed. I was really looking to go the super cheap route, but most likely I will just get some nice halogens for now. Anyone recommend a halogen that puts out between 4500K and maybe 6000K? I want that white light or bluish white look.

People who stay halogens seem to talk highly of just a few brands, one that I can recall off the top of my head is silverstar. They are brighter but don;t seem to last as long as OEM style or cheaper bulbs.

PIAA....
Nuff said. Others burn out after a short life....
But ANY halogen bulb gets dimmer as they age...so sometimes a new, quality bulb is enough to make you say WOW! So before you spend $50 ( or much more)on a pair of higher end bulbs.....you might try $6 on a pair of oem spec plain Jane bulbs....
As halogen bulbs age, the bulb will change in color from clear to a blackish hue...
Swapped out my halogen highbeams (I have xenon's for lows) after one fails (got a 2 pack from rock auto..Wagner brand, not special, but $6 for a pair...and I was amazed....much he brighter... Less yellow....
Modding $$$ for bigger impact items or beer....

So i settled on these because i could get them for cheap: Nokya H13/9008 Headlight Bulbs - Arctic White 7000K 60/55W (Stage 1)

They probably wont last, but to be fair i really don't drive at night that much so they could last for awhile. I drive about 700 miles a month in a busy month. This car is really just for weekend fun. Thanks again for all your input. My wife has been joking with me about spending two weeks researching headlight bulbs, but it's all part of the hobby.
