New stereo...
I'm installing the following stereo equipment:
Doors: Focal K2 Power 130KR (exist. Tweeters replaced)
Rear panel: Focal K2 Power 165KRX2, separate tweeters installed in side panel
Amp (installed in rear boot): Focal FPP 4100
4-channel car amplifier — 75 watts RMS x 4
Head unit: Pioneer DEH-80PRS CD receiver
I've decided to not run new wire through the doors due to the tight constraint of the wire loom. Figured it would be easier to tap into existing wiring for the door speakers ( I have new wiring to rear panels).
Sure, I could have used the existing wiring but I have crossovers, shielded wire, etc.
The issue I'm running into iChat the speaker wires from the doors seem to change color from the door to the entry port on the interior side. ie: passenger speakers have yellow wire w/red stripe (+), and a yellow wire with brown stripe (-). On the interior side, those colors don't exist. It appears that the the speaker wires are, brown with black stripe and blue with brown stripe.
From the wire harness that connects to stereo, I have a slightly different pin layout than what a diagram I found has ( I will re-confirm this ) I did test for continuity on my passenger door speaker and it seems to work except that the tweeter wire has (unfortunately) the same continuity which I'm inferring there is a splice from the tweeter wire and perhaps a capacitor in line somewhere down the line. Just a bit perplexed by this.
I'm asking if anyone knows where this splice takes place or is there an easier way? Perhaps I should add an additional wire loom thru the door so I can leave the wire harness unaffected.
