Black speedometer face for mini connected?

Anyone know if it's possible to swap the white for a black when you only have the outer ring due to mini-connected screen?

I found picture of one (attached) but no mention of retrofit.

Looking for where to get and instructions '14 MCCS.

Thanks,

swjtx

What you found a pic of is not black. It's dark gray (anthracite). That's a pic of the speedo in a JCW car. Theoretically, the parts should be able to be switched, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully ECS Tuning (or someone else with knowledge of it) will weigh in on this!

So you want is the outter speedo ring to be the the JCW version for the MINI Countryman with Navigation?

Nav in white ring.

Part number : 62109228486 or 62109290249 should be on the part.

Nav in black ring. Well it looks a Little gray / anthracite. Since its shared ion the R56+ models and only on the JCW countryman and Paceman it might be a plug in retrofit.

Part number 62109306252

#1 in the diagram. This part is found on the JCW Countryman / Pacman models.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Part number 62109306252

Don't know if it requires coding but there is the part.

Thanks

Factory JCW models have dark gauges (both speedo and tach). The dark speedo ring isn't available separately. You'd have to replace the entire speedo assembly at over $600.

The confusion was the pic of a CM (R60) speedo/nav I think.

Yea Yetti, I saw the countryman pic attached at the top.

Not a problem , because the part is a shared part across R56, R55, R57, R58, R59 and the R60, R61 chassis.

Yes, the Navigation stuff can be pricey. The displays do cost allot.

Black connected speedo=done

Installed my black face speedometer today. It looks much better than the silver/white that stood out to much. $300 on eBay with free shipping. There was no way I would ever pay over $800 bucks for that.

Plug and play= yes

Three plugs. Speedo, monitor power plug and video plug. It was a pain putting it in because you have to totally remove the center vent unit down to the dash. Lots of clips and torx. I know the tach will be easier, unless reprogramming is required.

Did it change your odometer mileage?

Odometer is in the tach not speedo

I have not done the tach yet. I may just do a black overlay from outmotoring to avoid odometer issues.

I don't believe that the odometer is stored in the tach. The control module for the tach is in the speedometer. The tach is like a dumb terminal that simply displays data coming from the control module. The speedometer is one of the places where the odometer is stored. It is stored in more than one location and how it gets displayed from the multiple sources is a bit of a mystery. Have you checked your odometer since the change?

Tach has odometer

My speedometer is digitally on my tach, but the needle style speedometer is on the large center display where the mini connect screen is. Nothing changed on my odometer.

Good find

This is what I'm talking about. The only problem now is disassembly and lining up that sticker perfect.

Looked at site but did not see any way for them to put in MPH rather than KM/ph. Maybe I read it wrong.

Oops, I didn't even notice that.... I like the red line marks on the tach better than others I've seen without them.

They have also available in mph for R60 http://www.heiler-tachodesign.de/Tac...H#.VjYzZGvqV1E

You can sent them a email asking if they have it available with mph in JCW design..

With a fast search in the google and in the NAM

Swapped!

I have completed my swap to black face gauges. Bought them off eBay from a wrecked car. The only issue "besides installing" was the tach was from a auto and mine is manual. The display said "transmission malfunction". So I opened them both and swapped the faces. The needle was also different on the black. It is black instead of silver so I had to align it back up. Done. It looks much better with the black/anthracite face. At night it looks like the numbers are floating. In the day, they blend in with the inside colors much better.

Did not take pictures of install in progress, but here is the end result. Much more low key interior look. Much better!!
