Somebody should chime in, but have to ask whether you have taken the MINI up on Haleakalā?

Are there any proficient coders here? I'm trying to understand the process (order of events) for coding multiple modules. For example, I want make several changes in the BC1 Module (locks, windows, DRL). I also want to make KOMBI changes (On-Board Computer active).

Do I need to approach this as two separate operations? I know that I need to read the BC1 TRC file --> Load to NCS Dummy --> Make Changes --> Export from NCS Dummy as .MAN file --> Write .MAN fileto Module with NCS Expert. Is there a way to code both the KMB and BC1 together? Apologies if this is hard to follow.

I am just a hack. I will recommend you do the module one at a time, and may be one change at a time. I am quite sure you cannot change more than one module.

Always be very careful and save a copy of the old. I create a new folder for each change and comment in detail what I change.

I only use NCS Dummy to help interpret the meaning of the entries as in addition to being in Deutsch most entries are not apparent what they are for.

Also do connect a battery charger to the battery or else there is stability issues especially in low ambient.

You're saving copies of the TRC file or the MAN? Once the .TRC file is edited, NCS dummy exports as .MAN.

Good tip about the battery charger.

I found this pretty helpful: http://codinge90.com/ncs-expert-basic-understanding/

I backup the trace files and give each chance a folder. I documented what I changed in a readme.txt file. The readme file has a dated running list of changes I made.

Sorry for raking up an old thread, but I'm kinda out on a limp here.
I've got a pre-facelift R53 with speedo in the center. Just bought some dual clocks for 15 bucks to try and make it work.
Needles work fine and the screens as well, but I just can get the lights to match up. When just pluging the new clocks in none of the lights work (ABS, ACS, cruise etc.) I've programmed the KMB to tacho_dzm_doppel_display so at least some lights work now. But for some reason some lights still don't match up as you can see in this video:
My car is a left hand drive car with km/h speedo. The dual cluster I bought is from a right hand drive facelift car (I think because of the option in the speedo to switch to the clock) with MPH speedo. I'm thinking the fact that it's a facelift cluster on a pre-facelift car or that it's a MPH speedo on a KM/h car is causing the problems but I'm not sure.
Please let me know if someone has found out something about this.

mph or kph should not matter . I have a pre face USA car that I brought to Canada , I change the displays from mph to kph without any issues . I did have some issues with the lights also during programming . I think I had to go into the bc5 and the kmb to get the proper operation of everything

Do you have dual guages above the steering wheel or just a single one? If you have dual guages could you send me the bc1 and kmb files maybe? I might be able to figure it out then.

Yeah I figured that the car needs to think there is a nav or chrono pack in the car. I’m pretty sure I can’t program that module it’s the BCU I think and NCSExpert doesn’t let you program that module.

Has anyone had an luck programming the hazard flashers for Euro-style double flash? If so, please post a step-by-step how you did it.

Yes I know that, but how did you get the data to 3? Mine only has nicht aktiv & aktiv (data 0 & 1 respectively). The double impulse is data 3 which isn't listed in mine (BC1.C06).

Also, does anybody know where the "Minimum number of flashes for one-touch turn signals" setting is? (I think it's MIND_ANZ_ZYKL_TIPP_BLK in abbreviated German).

I'm just starting in with NCS Expert/Dummy. Things are going well. Thank you for all the support.

I remember reading that you could use Dummy to compare trace files. I backed up my original, made my modifications and saved it as another file, then was able to load both to compare my changes.

From the pdf manual:
"Starting from NCS Dummy 0.6.0.0 the second trace file input field is hidden by default to save space for the graphical trace editor. The second trace file can be loaded via the "Browse..." button for "FSW/PSW or Nettodata trace 1". Choose "Compare Trace 2..." from the button dropdown menu to load the second trace file."

Super cool. That will be useful going forward and when I will be doing more advanced work and with multiple cars.

Another MAJOR tip I read from mrbean here on NAM (thanks!!) load the chassis and the TRC file first, then use the filter button to have Dummy choose what module you are coding. That way you don't need to "try" to make it work.

I know things are slow around here, hoping some of the NCS Expert experts are still around. I'm trying to disable the awful auto lock feature (Verriegeln_aut_ab_x_km/h), changed it to "not enabled" but it still engages. Has this worked for anyone else? Do I need to change some other settings for it to take effect?

Hmmm.
I was able to disable it on my 06. Didn’t do anything special.

Sounds silly, but did you successfully update the .man file and then upload it?

Yep, pulled the trace file afterwards and confirmed it was correct. Puzzling.

Has anyone made a spreadsheet/diagram of the features and options that can be activated on the R53 platform?

Yes did it last night, changed dobelimpulse blinker (or something like that) to active and bam. Just like my old e46.

except the mini is wierd, the inside switch still single blinks while the outsides are double blinking’!

just note there is more than one. There is overall but also the key profiles 1-4. Change them all . Also there was a way to change that with a sequence of button presses with ignition on, something like ignition on press lock 6 times or ignition on press unlock 6 times or similar for the key profile

aktiv says data 1 but is double impulse. Pretty sure that’s just a copy paste from e46 explanation of LKM, sine 0 is normal and 1 is double impulse on bc1

Thanks, I did manage to sort it and I think it was along the lines you mentioned: disable it everywhere!
