Where to tap power source inside cockpit?

I'm checking out a rearview mirror with a LCD built in for a backup camera for a mod but was wondering if anyone knows where I can tap into for a power source to power the LCD.

The item in question is
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221138196872...84.m1423.l2649.

I already know for the backup camera I'll be tapping into the reverse light wires in the back, but was wondering where to tap into for power in the front? If the cigarette lighter is fine, is there a DIY on disasembling the console to access the cigarette lighter etc? Thanks!

For my Garmin mount in my last Mini, I tapped into the cigarrete lighter circuit under the console. Was fairly easy to do and the instructions were with the mount kit from Craven Speed. Let me see if they're online.....

You should be able to tap into the cigarette lighter without removing the console. If you gently pull on the lighter housing with your fingernails or a small screwdriver the lighter will just pop out of the hole giving you access to the lighter harness below. You should also be able to feed a new wire under the console from the side without removing the console. Good luck.

if you want a source in the overhead console, search radar install - there is a purple wire up there that works- used it as a hot lead for my gps

Sweet. I'm assuming there's a ground somewhere up there too?

If you do decide to gorge cigarette light route, to remove the center console all you have to do is remove the three screws in the cupholders, and give the shift **** a nice hard yank upwards and it comes right off the shifter, then just pop the ebrake boot off and the center console comes right out, took me about 5 minutes once I figured it all out
That is, if you have a manual. Not sure for automatic

I'm deciding now between using passenger side fusebox with a add-a-circuit or just using the headliner like gerry has done with his GPS. Only problem is finding a store open on New Years Day that sells those crimp wire splicing connectors (not sure what they're called) to easily tap power from a cable.
