Battery Maintainer

A couple of days ago I hooked up Griot's Battery IV Maintainer to our MINI. This morning I unhooked it per instructions to go for a drive since the car had not been out of the garage in almost a week. It tried to start but seemed almost to not be getting fuel. After several attempts it finally started with some hesitation. Has anyone else had something like this after using a battery maintainer? Thanks for any words of wisdom!!!

Most likely ironic, sounds like the high pressure fuel pump that sits on the top right side of the valve cover could be giving up. The good news is it will be under Mini's extended warranty for the pump. Check with the dealer

Thanks! You don't think the battery maintainer had anything to do with it then?

No I don't, I use a tender and the symptom you r describing does not sound like a battery issue. I think you could give yourself some reassurance by going to YouTube and searching things like R56 high pressure fuel pump problem or R56 starting problem. You may find that your issue is the same as those that had the hp fuel pump going out.

Just got home from MINI of St. Louis. Had to replace high pressure fuel pump and tensioner on timing chain. Runs like a new one! Thanks for your response Azminispeedin!
