OBDII Not working

Bought Autoenginuity in 2009... Believe I got it to work once with my Mini. Has always worked with my Jeep. It's computer software that connects to a vehicle via OBDII. Also purchased the 'enhanced BMW' package, which supposedly allows access to deeper menus/options for BMWs, such as BMW exclusive diagnostic routines.

Anyhow... I can not get OBDII to talk to AE on my Mini. I also went out and bought a generic INNOVA OBDII scanner which supposedly also uses the ISO9141 that the Mini uses... Not working.

I've checked every single fuse in the passenger compartment, no blown fuses found.

I tried another Euro car, a co-workers 2005 Audi A4... Works just fine. My 2005 MCS, no joy.

I have reset my instrument cluster via the test routine numerous times.

Looking for more options. Is it possible my last trip to the dealer to troubleshoot a possible ECU problem (ended up being oxidation on the ECU), that they may have disabled OBDII? If so, is it possible to reenable without going back to the dealer, because I'm sure they will deny deny deny...

Also, is it possible that the Unichip could be preventing an OBD connection?

Not sure how much this will help, but I figured it's worth a shot: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...D2_Systems.htm

Good article on why to get AutoEnginuity and stuff like it... Not so helpful with troubleshooting OBDII. Thanks though!

Any luck on what fuse? Must be in the engine box as the driver's side box had no blown fuses (except the F35 that keeps blowing and I've left empty).

Shaggy, have you ever tried the "hard reset" trick? (not my name for it, I picked it up on here somewhere). Basically you disconnect your battery cables, wait for about 60 seconds, and then touch the cables to each other (the cables, not the the battery terminals!). This discharges any remaining electricity in the system and allows a ground-up reboot. I had a situation where my OBD wouldn't talk, fuses were good. I did this in desperation, and as the French say, "Abracadabra!" Worth a try.

It definitely is a fuse. F14 ,F34 in the cabin, FL2 in the engine or F1,F3,F4. What else has gone out in your car? The fuse for the OBD carries other circuits too in most cars, in some of my cars it was on the cigarette lighter circuit, others the interior lights.

UPdate - Shaggy32 has the same problem, it is in his fuse for the side mirrors - F35, check that again. He also suspected the cigarette lighter, like I do - most cars pull their OBD power from that.

Mine was the fuse. Forget which one, but it's a 5 amp.
