Overhead console wiring schematic?

I'm adding a homelink garage opener unit to my overhead console but can't find a constant 12v power source. There are two wire harnesses that plug into it but I've already blown a fuse poking around with a multimeter.

Does anyone have a wiring schematic of this? Or does anyone just know of a +12v and a ground that are safe to tap into?

Thanks!

A Bentley Manual would have that. And it might be a good purchase if you are going to be doing any other work on the car as well.

In the mean time i dont think there is any "always on" 12v up in the overhead console. And the OEM mirror with Homelink built in does not work if the car is turned off.

You might want to check some of the radar detector threads. A lot of people wire them up to the overhead console.

Hey good idea.

I found this thread, I haven't been able to check if the wire will work for me but it should! I'll report back for future reference if it works for me or not.

The link in the previous post works for me. The purple with gray stripe wire in the black wiring harness connector worked for me. I didn't splice into the wire, I soldered a wire onto the console's board where the connector connects. That way I can remove the whole thing with minimal problems.

For the ground, I used a screw into the little hole that is very obvious when you have the overhead console out.

The wire in that thread is not always "on" 12v.....after about 30min it powers down, at least in a 2013 R55. I have a motion detector dash cam that stops picking up motion after about 30minutes.
