another ddm hid kit problem :(

I know theres a lot of threads about hid kits especially ddm tuning

but I couldnt find the right answer for me so im posting new one.

Last night I installed ddm tuning hid kit and everything went great but I still had my bulb out warning sign even though I bought that error elimnator thing for extra 15 bucks.

in genearl the aiming was good it was nice and bright, great visibility compare to the halogen bulb

today when I came from shopping and turned my car off ,the lights stayed on O_O...

Tried every possible way to turn that thing off, it didnt work.

I dont have the right tool for me to unplug the wire from the battery so i just unplugged the wire that connected to the ballest.

I have no idea how to fix this and this is my first hid kit ever so please help me !!

You're going to have the bulb out with that kit even with the eliminator...as for the lights staying on where is your ground connected to?

Figured out my relay went bad so I went to autozone and got a new one.

Now I can turn it on and off no problem but my lights starts flickering and turns off sometimes and I think I need error eliminator for flickering issue but mine pop when I was changing relay and connecting everything.

So I ordered a new set of eliminator and see how it wil turn out

The warning sign don't bother me but I dont think i will get another ddm hid products for sure :(

That flicker is from the FRM module testing the bulbs it is expecting (incandescent). You really should reprogram the car to not do the warm and cold bulb checks. I have a bunch of DDM kits that work great for me in other vehicles.

There is another thread where someone used some kind of resistors or something i am not really sure how it works but check it out. I just deal with the bulb out code it doesnt bother me anymore lol it is obvious when one of the lights isnt working.

No sorry, it is a very involved process.

I recommend in this case to go for the resistors to fool the system, but then your operating load maybe over the rated current for those circuits, especially during lamp startup.

Weird. I had DDM Tuning's hid kit in my tC, boyfriend has them in his WRX and best friend has them in her GTI. None of us ever had issues. Good luck. In my opinion, it was super easy to install but that was in a Scion.

Yes, well those vehicles are not BMW and probably have much simpler control for lighting. I have DDMs kits in other vehicles and love them, but I would NEVER slap them in a newer MINI/BMW where the lights are controlled directly by computer module like they are in the MINI (without reprogramming the computer).

But doesn't DDM say that their stuff is "specifically" for BMWs? At least that was my impression...

I think you are right about that, they stretching the truth quite a bit there (for BMWs the last five or so years). I have them in my old Z3, but those headlights are powered by a traditional switch or relay setup.

it is the curse of the on coming drivers that you will be blinding putting your HID's in a reflector housing.

X2 or even people in front of you. I was also told that in the reflector housing, since the HIDs are hotter than regular lightbulbs, you cam melt the housing as well.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your friend doesn't know what he is talking about.

BS on both accounts.

HIDs are cooler than regular bulbs. So no heat issues.

Plenty of OEM HIDs are in reflector housings, so with proper aiming, no problems for other drivers.

I don't have any info specific to the MINI, however, just make sure you aim your beams down a bit to reduce the glare.

I did aim my beam and compared with my friends STI so I'm
Pretty sure it's okay.
Plus if I was blinding people i would get some massive High beam attack :/ especially in my neighborhood.
