This is interesting. I have a 06/10 build for my 2010 R55 and it was coded at the Dragon and the light doesn't work. I think I have the coding in place but it looks like I might have to do some configuring like the LCI (2011+) guys do?

I've coded a 2010 R55 for the alarm light and the light didn't work. I'm also thinking that these had those two wires missing. So yeah, you'll probably need to add the wires. Just take a look at the connectors, if you're missing the wires then you need to add them!

Sounds like I need to reread the posts and get to wiring. So I need to go from the fuse box are to under the steering wheel. What's the best way to route these wires? Trying to plan my night tonight. I already have a few extra wires in my fuse box area; relays and 2 runs of 10ga wire, switches, etc.

for anyone interested in getting the connectors for the 2010 + models (mines a July 2010 and i needed the wires). I went to Morristown MINI and me and parts guy found the ones that work. with a slight modification. The part number is 61-13-0-006-665 Bushing Contact. BIN # 203G3. Price was $2.70 each and you need 4.
these are the female pins needed for both ends of the wire runs between x9002 and x14272. They are already wired with about 10 inches of wire. The mod you will need to do is slide off the little rubber bushing thats on the end, just keep twisting and it will slide up and out of the way. Then you will need to take some pliers and squeeze the crimped ends into a tighter circle so they will fit down inside the plastic plugs when you slide these into them. I meant to take pictures but remembered after i had everything back together, but its pretty simple. the hardest part was figuring where to run the wires.
Hope this helps out anyone trying to get the light to blink on a 2010 + that is missing the two wires. Oh and dont forget to program the module before or after.

a quick look at realoem it seems it should work at least up to 2012 as far as the leds being in the tach. u would have to check either the x9002 plug or the 14272 to see if the wires are missing to be sure. you can even just pull the tach off and open it up to see if the tiny square LEDs are in there

My 2010 alarm light blinked from the day I picked it up new from the dealer even though I never ordered an alarm. I guess they forgot to disable it or enabled it by mistake. Too bad. I was hoping my next one did that for free.

I just ordered my extra set of wires from ECS. When I had my rear fogs programmed he also programmed the alarm to light as well and did understand why it didn't work. So hopefully he left the programming in there for it and all I have to do is wire these up. Funny how the other day I locked the car with the key fob while still inside, went to get out and the lights started blinking, head lights and tail lights......I guess the program is still there.

Hi there!

Nice to see this thread isn't dead yet!

Due to this topic I was coding my MINI R56 JCW LCI (produced Sept. 2010) to have the alarm light blinking - with no result!

Now that we all know it is because of the missing wiring in the LCI models, I also had a look. Here is the result: No wires indeed.

Foto 1 shows X14272 and that there is no cable inside the 2nd of left down grey and black inner plastic part.

I will try to take some pics of my try to get the light blinking!

Cheers,
Peter

Hello RicWRX ,

9/2009+ is what you need for your model MINI when the build date is on the split. When its "up to" or -9/2009 its before that date.

Thanks

sort of, on each connector the end plug has which number it corresponds to so you just have to count across to the correct empty spot and slip the pin in, making sure the little triangle tab is facing out towards the opening on the side so it latches in. hope that answers your question.

Here is a pic of the X9002 module. You just have to tear down three clips of the panel besides the steering column to get to this module.

Cable shoes will come into the lefthand two empty slots where you can see three of them lower right.

I tried to use standard 0,5 cable shoes. Doesn't work. I will get some of the right contacts from my dealer (61 13 0 006 665). I have attached a pic of that, too.

Finally I did everything work.
I had serious problems to fit the contacts into the connectors - in the end I did it without them just by using the cables.

At the KOMBI module I cut the two wires on the other side of the connector and brazed them directly to the new wires.
At the SPEG module it was enough to have some wire looking out of the female part of the connector - not the professional way but okay for me.

Unfortunately my HEARTBEAT_ZEIT setting is 0 min and I sold my cable already. But have a look at the video. It's fine for me anyway.

If someone has some more questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you to everybody who helped to find out this modification!!!

How did you guys get to that plug by the fuse box? The little door is too small to get down to that plug. Would I have to remove the whole kicker panel, that would suck to break clips on.

Will the programming work on a 2013 R56?

Well, I got my alarm light to work today and it only cost me $465 including tax, but of that included the actual alarm. I purchased the oem retrofit from ECS and had it installed today.
A certified BMW tech did the install quoting me 2 hours and $195 including tax, but it took 7 hours. He had installed many on BMWs, no Minis. The coding took 2 hours hooked to the computer and the BMW server. It went through updating all of the software, works great.

Success, I was using this as my first coding experience.

After getting the following and baby steping through:

BEST errors
Cable issues ( a bad one, then latency setting on a new one)
Daten issues
Bonking my Kombi because of the cable
Having to connect the Kombi via the 2 left out wires (Thanks PLAYLIFE for the diagrams)

It works. It coded, it flashes and pulses. Even flashes lights as if alarm was there if opened incorrectly.

Cant wait to figure out more neat coding tricks
