Strange problem in Mini 2002???

I have a Mini Cooper S 2002, which has got a strange problem. When I stop the engine with the key, the rear trunk door opens and the central door lock will not lock, only with the key, not the remote. It only happens sometimes, not everytime I stop. Has anyone seen this problem before or have an idea what it can cause this problem.

I would have the dealer refresh the programing of the BCM to start.

How old is your battery, mine started doing all sorts of little oddities about 2 months before the battery died, rear hatch would work part of the time, door chime would ding in a non regular pattern and a couple of other things.
Have put a new battery in and had no more problems since.

I use the car as a driving school car and the car drives 8 hours per day and no battery problems. The problems come when the drivers misses a start and the engine stops immediatly. Then the rear trunk opens and the central door lock will not lock.

Maybe its your MINI telling your students that its time to get out and it is unlocking the doors and opening the boot to let them out....

Just kidding you, that is a little odd..

MINIs are battery-weird. My car's windows and clock had minds of their own until I replaced the battery. Have yours load-tested. How long has it been in the car? Anything over 3 years and it can be suspect. My symptoms began when the battery was ~4 1/2.
