Disable TPMS

Has anyone disabled the TPMS when installing non sensor equipped rims?

This can probably be done thru a software change or programing, But unfortunately not thru an easy user interface.

strobyprobey has the equipment to make these changes and is in process of going thru a lot of different modules to see what can and can not be done.

The other problem is that the dealers (even if it is changeable) will not do it because the currect US law requires that TPMS be ON all cars form model year 2008 and higher. So they will not adjust software that will break the law.

Example is the seat belt gong can be turned off but under US law it is requried so dealers will NOT turn it off for liability reasons.

how can i disable the seat belt gong? any easy fix? I know for my friends STI, he was able to click and unclick consistently for 30 seconds and it disabled his driver seat. Anything we can do for the MINI?

I read where someone here just put all four TPMS sensors in his donut spare in the trunk. The car doesn't know any difference.

Bravian Tech's diagnostic / convience setting interface DOES NOT allow tire pressure monitoring system deactivation at this time of writing.

I am sure the tools I have can disable the TPMS or change it to the wheel diameter system. I haven't really looked much into that option. As long as the TPMS module is coded out of the car, or at the very least the Check Control warning message coded out, I am sure it can be done since TPMS is not required in the rest of the world. It wouldn't be very easy.

That system may not work but the one strobyprobey is working with may very well as he seems to be able to change any and all other systems that the Bravian can not do. And I suspect it is one that will need to be set to off for some other countries that do not require it.

Stroby, what system do you have?

Look in the next thread with closing the sunroof and windows with the FOB.

It is DCAN cable from ebay, and I use NCS Expert to do the coding. I am still learning myself, there is a lot to it and the German abbreviations don't help at all!

So if you want to remove the TPMS system from the car, the Vehicle order can be updated removing the option $2VB Direct_RDC //Reifen Druck Control (fuer US-Fahrzeuge) in NCS Expert. You would have to re-initialize a couple of the modules but that should not hinder the removal. Also removing $845 from the VO should get rid of the seat belt reminder chime as well.

You are a wizard! That is wicked cool how you have been able to make those changes.

Have you ever experienced reversion or do the changes stay once you set them? Any glitches using NCS expert?

I haven't tried removing it myself, but I am pretty sure it would work. The VO change is permanent (in non-volitile memory, stored in two modules for redundancy). The changes made to modules direclty with trace files will be cleared if the module is reprogrammed.

Reviving this dead thread, did this end up working to disable TPMS? Any other side effects? Thinking about going this route, I'm a software engineer by trade so I think I would know better than to tinker with an unknown code system, but I'm very intrigued.
