HID conversion ... please help

So I ordered the 55W conversion kit from DDM Tuning including the error code eliminator for my 2008 R56 . Now I installed the whole kit and am still getting the bulb out warning for my highs and lows . The lights work fine while using the low beams then the highs begin to flicker. Is there a possibility that I got a bad set of code error eliminators? I need to get this fixed ASAP and would like to install my fogs tomorrow without the same problem. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

so you got the hi/lo kit from ddm? the one that connects to the battery? if thats the case then the bulb out eliminators wont work. the only way to have the bulb out not to come on is if you buy an hid lo/halogen hi kit(ex. ebay). that way the bulb out eliminator will work on the xenon bulb and the halogen is self explanatory.

the fogs will work because its only a single bulb.

Okay, thanks for the info! So essentially I have to get a kit that does not connect to the battery?

If you get the regular kit, you'll still have the high bulb out code. IMO find a xenon lo/halogen hi hid kit on eBay and get a bulb out eliminator, you should be fine. The only thing you'll be losing is a high beam because the halogen hi is a small bulb not capable of producing a lot of light.

Okay I'll look into it. DDM said there in the works of making a new set up that will solve this problem, I guess some Dodges have the same thing. So look for that within the next 2 to 3 months. Fogs went in great with no problems so all is good for now.

Clubmamut You forgot to tell him about the resistor pack we developed back in the day! 6 ohm 50 watt between hot and ground will cancel the bulbout warnings. It can add a little clutter but it actually works. Try cleaning up the ground (removing the paint at the attach point) and using a little grease to the connection to keep it corrosion free. Hopefully that will raise the voltage and stop the flicker. Post some pics of those HID fogs. I have got to see the pattern.

I just got my MCS last week. To get the good finance deals and below sticker price I had to pick one of the lot, and the only one I liked had no xenons.

I found a local vendor though someones link and are having them retrofit projectors into the oe halogen housing. The ballast/voltage adaptor are all supposedly being mounted into the housing and its supposed to be a true plug and play set up. im very excited.

heres what it looks like so far:

Where is this being done? My HID kit that worked so well without any bulb out codes finally decided to give out but I'm sure its either the ballast or bulb but haven't had a chance to check it out. But this post above looks very interesting keep us posted.

More info and picture please. I was looking at doing a retrofit with the currently available H1 Mini projector. Bake the lights apart, joey mod, insert mini H1 projector, then reseal and now MINI with Bi-xenon lights.

The picture should be in the above post (it's showing up when I bring up this page). The shop said they will email me more pictures when it's finished.
Supposedly it will be ready tomorrow, he is just waiting on the new ballast that has a built in voltage regulator to avoid rhr bulb out warning.

The guy that's doing it is blackflamecustoms.com. He's been very straightforward and has been very responsive with emails.
I'll let you know when I get the lights if IRS a true plug and play. I'm looking forward to ditching the dim halogens

I would contact them for pricing, it's probably different depending on what you are looking for, but I feel the price I paid is very fair. So that included the projectors being installed into the halogen housing, bulbs, ballasts, and voltage adaptors. I told him to make it look factory.
He said I could drop off my housings for about a week turnaround, but I just bought two extra housings to eliminate the downtime (and to switch back to oe for warranty work)

Well the lights are in and I cant wait for it to get dark out. It took me all of 5 minutes to take out the old ones and switch these in. There is no bulb-out warning and the low/high/turn signals are all working perfectly. They look fantastic and I really couldnt be any happier with the end product. The only thing I need to do now is aim them!

heres another picture

Any updates on light output/beam pattern pics? How have they held up so far? Were they easy to aim?

they are pretty easy to aim, there is a white screw on both sides off the headlamp. the lower one aims up and down, the higher one closer to the fenders aims it left/right

sorry for the bad pic quality, the only camera charged is my iphone

overall I am very happy with the conversion, although i do wish there was more light closer to the car (some is blocked by the turn signal), but you can barely notice while driving

Thanks for the pm and the pics. I bet xenon drop in fog lights would resolve that gap! Could you get shots on a wall?
