Hi All!
So a couple of days ago, my mini goes nuts: battery light on, abs light on, radio off, fan off, power steering going...car shutting down. We thought it was the battery and had the battery checked. Battery was dead so we replaced. But today, same problem. We think it's the alternator now...here's the question: what OEM alternators are compatible? (battery was a pain, so I just want to make sure to get the correct one) Thanks!

Have the same problem , now , but I have a 2004 s

 

Check the ground wire to the alternator. On my 2005 MCS, I had a water pump replaced and the shop did not attach the ground wire properly. Consequently, lights were coming off/on in the dash, radio stopped working and then everything started working again. A few miles further down the road, the same thing happened and the car eventually died. I took it back to the shop and they determined the ground was not installed properly. This issue also affected starting the car - acted as if the clutch starting switch was not working.
