mine fit just fine. when i unlock the car twice with the key fob i get a bulb out warning 75% of the time. it clears itself in a few sec after ignition. i dunno what that's about. they look great! and not a problem. i'm happy enough with my hoen fogs and eyelids :-)

I just had this same problem tonight with the driver's side eyelid. I just emailed Hoen and hopefully they will send me a new LED. I am glad I kept the stock bulbs or I would be screwed driving around with the "dodododododo"

It must be random. I have had the Hoen's for about 3 months with no issues. They do flicker when I hit the start button, but I have never gotten a bulb out warning.

They just refunded my money. I wish they would have worked though.

Any word on any other bulbs working and not throwing a bulb out warning?

Well if it turns out that the LEDs will not work long term I might turn to the Hoën W5W city light 3,850k http://www.hoen-usa.com/city.htm
its down the page a little ways, but the bulb looks like the stock one so there might not be any problem with it.

I went ahead and just ordered the W5W (non-LED) city lights and Endurance yellow fogs. I'll update when they are installed- and do a before/side by side/after photo(s).

Lights came and are installed. Hard to tell how the cities look because it's so light out. They are "whiter" than the OEM for sure.
The Driver side was such a pain! I tried that side first and then after probably 15 minutes went to try the passenger...that took all of 2 minutes maybe. Back to the Driver side....and damn, people with bigger hands are going to have an issue getting to the inside part of the fog light to release the wires socket. I took a beer break- partially to let my arm stop hurting (tire rubbed away some of the skin as I tried to pull out the socket) then back to pulling it out. I do think the whole thing took an hour (didn't check start time) which is pretty obnoxious since the passenger side was SO friggin' easy!
I think the Hoen site is probably a pretty good representation of the yellow of the fog lights.

Do you think that the non-LED W5W lights match closer to the headlights?

lookin to order the W5W LED's for my parking lights....anybody know what the issue is with the "email to order if you have a porsche" situation? looking at the pics on this forum, it looks like these LED's look excellent and work fine for our minis so whats the deal?

edit: just emailed the Hoen company asking whether I can order a pair of the bulbs for my mini cooper and exclaimed how the fitment is fine and how the bulbs work perfectly in our cars. i'll keep you guys posted on their response.

They definitely match closer than the OEM, but I haven't checked how close they are to the xenon at night (it rained hard last night and I wasn't in the mood to stand in it to see them).

They didn't fit or work in my my car, it seems like it's hit or miss.

arite guys. heres the response i got back from Hoen:

Im afraid we cannot Allen, we have had a 50% return rate on non Turbo
installs however when the bulbs arrive back they are working perfectly,
but as they are handled we cannot sell them as new.

The issue is the thickness, its designed for a Porsche / Audi socket and
its too thick for BMW / Mini style, over time this needs added tension
(remove bulb, twist cu pins holding in the bulb) but of course most do not
know that and its a 'blown' bulb in the owners eyes hence lots of returns.

regards
Andreas

does anybody know any other options to take out this yellow parking light? i just want a pure white color down there, thats all.

I installed the W5W 3850K's on my 09 MCS and they do not match the Xenon K scale. You need at least 4200K to 4500K to match the Xenon headlights.

The W5W bulbs are whiter than stock but do not match.

The best Hoen match is the Hoën dLED_3 city light 4,500k but does not appear to be available for sale due to large number of returns for fitment problems.

PIAA may have a solution with their 4,200K Hyper Simple Super Part #19407
http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...9407/353.0.1.1

My concerns are with the lack of a resistor sometimes these LED's will trigger a bulb out warning.

Any other ideas?

Yesterday I went ahead and ordered the:
  • Hoen W5W 3850k citylight
  • Hoen H8 Endurance bulb pair 35w
  • Hoen Xenonmatch licenses plate bulb pair
I may be in for a world of hurt on the bulb out warnings but I want to try to make them work.

@Douglas H - Hate to hear that the city light doesn't match but the fact that it is closer should be okay for me. I will just kick on the "Yellow" fogs and drown them out anyway!

Hopefully they will come in just in time for me to install them before the Dragon!

Kevin

i'll look forward to the plate lights

on the city lights i've had more problems. i get the warning nearly every time i get in but it clears itself in seconds. i don't know what the deal is but that said i can take a few sec of that vs. the dingy bulbs mini gives us.

Here is an LED plate light that worked well for me on my R56 JCW: UPDATED

http://www.ledautomotive.com/product.php?id_product=129 . . I see the link didn't let you through the back door. Follow the link to the home page, choose car specific LED, BMW E46 99-06, more, scroll down to plate lights.

Fits like stock, great color, they run cool, no on board resistors or heatsinks, no bulbout warning, $16.98 shipped right now but they go on sale periodically.

Those large 3 story, 194 style, ebay special LED's (with 13 elements or 26) generally work with no bulbout in your eyelids. The wattage (which is about 3.25 watts) appears to be close enough to not trigger a warning. Again all cars are different to a degree but when you are done you only spent about $8.00 shipped to try it out. Pics of the ebay eyelids are on my gallery. I think these are closer to 6000K so if you are looking for 4300k try something else. But keep in mind you will probably need a light this big to avoid bulbout warnings (or you will need to add resistors to your smaller LED setup). These are hard to find domestically but are all over the place overseas. Just search "194 LED" on ebay and you will have pages to choose from.

it's tricky. just follow the directions in the manual and twist hard.
i was sure i was going to break something but just as i was giving it a good hard turn that i was sure was going to cost me a lot more money haha, it worked

what do you guys think about these for our parking lights:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...ini-wedge.html

Its the second product (WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs with High Power SMD LED)....first thumbnail....

seems like u can order the "super white" bulb which is ~5500k. and it will only cost a grand total of roughly 10 dollars.

edit: yes, these will most likely trigger a bulbout warning, but i guess thats the cost if you want to get rid of the dingy yellow parking lights in your mini!

I may switch to the ebay LEDs because I find the w5w from Hoen just aren't as bright as I prefer.
