DSC, cruise, wipers, OBC disabled... HELP!!!

I installed an Auto Sport Button Mod that I bought from another member who has sold them to several other people. When I put the key in the ignition, the front windshield wiper started and it won't stop unless I take the key out. When I start the engine, I get warning lights that the DSC and Cruise Control are disabled. I cannot access the OBC with the button on the turn signal lever. The windshield sprayers also don't work. I checked all of the fuses and all the wires seem secure. I've taken out the Auto Sport mod, but all of the problems persist. Does anybody know what could cause all of these things to fail at the same time? And, more importantly, anybody have any ideas how to fix them?

Thanks,
-C

Its a computer module on the steering column

I had that problem a couple of months after I first got my car (early '07 R56). First the wipers would turn on by themselves, then the hazard lights would start blinking on their own and finally the dashboard would light up with both DSC and ABS lights.

According to the dealer it was a module that controls those 4 functions that went bad. If I remember correctly it is located on the steering wheel column assembly.

Now, I don't remember the name of it, top of my head, but could probably find out by looking at the paperwork at home.

Check the problems & Solutions forums, there might ba couple of posts over there

Search for "SZL" -- that's the steering angle sensor and when it fails symptoms like yours appear. It could be totally unrelated to the auto sport button mod.

Thanks for the replies. The SZL definitely sounds like the culprit from what others describe. It's going to the dealer on Friday. I don't see how the auto sport mod would have caused this. Hopefully it's just coincidence. Thanks again.

ah, is this why your module was toasted? i did the auto sports mod right after picking up the car and it never gave me any problems.

I think it was just coincidental. They have nothing to do with each other, but I guess there's a chance I hit a wire or something. Not sure how, but there's always a chance. The fact that the part is on back order and still unknown when I'll get it makes me think that there's an issue with the steering wheel module itself.
