i agree its super expensive! And in order for the lights to fit the Non S some adjustment will be done...it is recommanded for to change to the S bumper which will cost more $

I don't know if you would like that many lights in front of the radiator because they would reduce are air flow to the radiator or intercooler on the S.

hmmm, i kind of like that bar over the ALTA. I prefer the look when the lights are on the bottom portion of the bumper, as opposed to blocking the grill. does anyone know of any other bars that mount on the bottom portion for the r56's?

OutMotoring have a different take on light bars. http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...ng_lights.html It maintains airflow but leaves the lights more exposed. I just make sure I park where people can't back into the front of my car!

I wouldn't worry too much about the airflow to your radiator on the R56. Because of the aerodynamics of the front bumpers shape, you are not getting that much ram air into the radiator that way. The rubber air dam underneath the car is the source for most of your cooling. Remove that and then see how quickly your car will overheat.

There is enough spacing between the lights for air to get through. The grille opening is mostly for when the electric fan runs it has somewhere to pull air directly into the radiator, rather than having to pull it from the bottom of the car when you are sitting still.

A perfect example of this is NASCAR. Look at the tiny opening they have in the upper grille of any car on a superspeedway. Then look at the opening in the lower grille, much larger. That's the source of the cooling air. Another example is the Trans Am from the mid 80's (I had one) or the C5 Corvette. No grille openings at all, all air came into the radiator from the rubber air dam on the bottom, forcing air up into the radiator.

I do agree you would not want to block the lower grille area on the Mini because that is for the intercooler and that is in front of the lower air dam, so all the air the intercooler gets does come through the grille. Plus, no fan on the intercooler.

I had the same concern until the guy at VIP told me to get down and look up into the grill. Only the lower slat is open and the upper ones are blocked with a plastic strip, so no air is going in there. As said above the lower intake is where the air flow is coming in.
