Light Bar

Ok, im trying to choose between the Alta Light Bar and the Palo Uber light bar. The bars im looking at are the ones that hold 4 6in. lights down in front of the lower grill. Any opinions on either? How do the Hella 500 lights compare to the IPF CS series that come with the Alta? Any help is appreciated.

i don't have any personal experience but a while back when i almost got a light bar and doing my research i concluded that i liked the alta bar. you can also get 'em w/o the lights and put whatever you want on them. the hellas are cheaper, i think, and i liked how you can get 'em in yellow. there're several other posts about this subject

I know you're looking for a lower grill lightbar but this one really caught my eye at the Dragon this past year.

There was someone on here who made a few and they sold on Ebay. If you look how they mount and everything they are very simple. I hope the maker of the Ebay one will chime in because I also want to get one. It was a good price. Either that or I will just make one.

the ebay one is nice for Hella 500 size not as nice a finish as the alta for sure but its well under $100 so that makes up for it.

The VIP bar sets pretty close to the hood...supposedly the Hella's and other similar lights are too deep;they will rub when you opne the hood.

I went with the Alta. Only catch is mount the bar as low as possible or the lights will bump against the bumper cover and point too low. I had to put spacers behind the bar to push it out further so the lights could tip back far enough to shine forward and not down.

The IPF lighting harness that comes with the Alta bar is second to none. Very high-quality, easy to install.

I did 4 Hella 500's on the eBay bar ("reddrockets", IIRC, do a search I've got pics up). Bar was about $50, lights were $70 each pair, wiring harness is excellent. Personal opinion: The Alta bar is too low. Looks great on the car though. With 4 driving beams you can overcome the suboptimal light bar location by simply throwing tons of light down the road. I prefer the bumper-height location as a better "average" between really low (beter for fogs, notsomuch for driving beams) and too high (ba-ad for fogs, better for driving lights).

+1 ... although with the Aero grill I was able to mount the bar low enough that no spacers were required to clear the bumper cover at the proper pointing angle. The Alta mounts are solid as a rock and I've been really happy with it.

It's a two-light IPF application to accommodate my front tag. With the 100W lamps those pesky deer can be seen at quite a distance.
