Alarm on a 2004 Cooper S

Is there a way to turn the alarm system on and off on a 2004 MCS?
I don't mean from the FOB, but to disable the system.

I know I found a thread once that said something about doing that for people who might keep a dog in their car or something, try a search but I know its out there...
