Help! Can't find a place inside the car to connect a ground

OK, I'm am idiot. I am hard wiring my radar detector on my 07 MCS. All went well until I tried to find a place to connect the ground. I used an add-a-fuse, hid all of the wires and then finding a place to ground it has stumped me. I ran a long ground wire temporally under the hood to make sure that it worked, and it did. I'm sure that there is probably a ground wire in the fuse panel but I have no idea which one it is. I have tried several screws under the dash but so far nothing that grounds the unit. Any help would be appreciated.

The chassis is the ground.

Find a good bolt that goes to the chassis. If you want to use a wire, the brown wires are all grounds. There are a couple of ground meccas that have lots of brown wires that connect inside a flat black thing... That then is screwed or bolted to the chassis.

Thanks. I found a screw inside the glove box that works. Now if I can only figure out a way to get the fuse cover to stay on. The add-a-fuse sticks out too far and prevents the cover from going back on. Oh well, there's always duct tape

I think he means bend the add-a-circuit, but I'd say find another slot - I've got two and the door fits no problem.

Finding a good ground IS an annoyance. I use one tucked up on the left side of the steering wheel, but it's a pain to get to. FWIW, good advice is when you find a good ground, add a few wires to a ring connector, then you've got a ground all ready for the next item you add.

Thanks. I wired in a radar detector. In order for it to turn on when I start the car and off when I shut it down, the cigarette lighter fuse seemed to be the only one I could use. (If there is another fuse closer to the middle that does the same, please let me know) That fuse is one of the larger fuses (F42) located on the far right of the fuse block. Being there is why the cover won't fit on securely. The cover is on now, but I suspect that the first bump that I hit will make it fall off.

where do u live?

There are devices that PD's use that detect your radar detector. If you get caught in a state where it is illegal, and you cant turn it off or remove it, they will impound your car as they write you a pretty hefty ticket. Just a word of warning. It doesn't matter how well you hide it. I'm in the police radar and video install/service business in case you think I'm blowing smoke.

I am aware of this. There are some states that it's best just not to have one. I have a Passport 8500 X50 which is suppose to be more resistant to detector detectors than most, but I wouldn't trust that to be true if I went to Va., for example.
