Check this out. I don't have it but am considering. It's nice that its made to specifically fit the device.

Hey thanks for the link. Sure would like to see exactly how it attaches. Are they using double sided tape? For 20 bucks can't go to wrong .

Yo could take some aluminum and make a bracket for this part to attach to. It is a good looking holder, I may have to get one too!

I have this

I know it dosnt go on the down tubes but it has worked great for my ipod touch, and it has an aux jack at the bottom of it so you can plug it right into the mini aux port (if you have one)

Try this site. I just ordered a mount and holder from them for my Garmin Nuvi 660. I checked and they have what you need for an iPhone.

The holder is $20 then an additional $20 for the mount. A bargain compared to the $150 Kuda mount. Check out this link.

http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/UltiMount/

It uses double sided 3M adhesive. Supposedly doesn't hurt the finish if/when removed. The round disc seems flexible and should be able to handle the side contour of the downtube. I've checked out the others (Kuda, Pro Clip, Panavise) and am not as impressed. Many use generic "vise" style (squeeze clamps to secure) device holders. The Kuda has a designated holder for the iPhone but it looks kinda bulky and is $$$

Did you check MINIclo's post? It seems that the holder is $56. or am I not seeing it right? I see the picture that Pro-fit has, they are using a iPhone, but can't tell how they mount the phone to the mounting base? Disregard last sentence, I see it your first post .

The Kuda base is $56 but is only one of the two pieces you need. The iPhone cradle that attaches to it is an additional $90.

I'm a big fan of ProClip. Have them in my MINI and truck. There are three MINI ones. One fits to the right downtube in place of the huge cupholder using the same screws. One to the right downtube low, and one to the left downtube. They are modular so you buy the car mount then the device holder. If you change devices you can just replace the device part.

They are of course device specific so the hold the pda / phone / etc really well. You can get the device part fixed or with a swivel too. They have a couple holders for the iPhone to go with the mount.
