Gas cap lock wire - tring to find

I want to get to the wire that operates the gas cap on the Cooper - anyone know the short cut??

I don't think the wire is available as a separate piece. The whole assembly is called a "filler flap acutator", and it's about a $90 part (at least on the convertibles). You can find it on realoem.com, or if you'll tell me the year and body style you have, I'll be happy to look it up.

In the 1st gen they talk about using the wire to the gas cap as a point to add a device from Radio Shack that will sound when power is put to it... So, finding that wire will give me a sound when locking the car... that thread is over a year old... So, I was asking here, hoping for a quick answer..

Oops - never mind. I was wrong on two fronts. I thought you talking about the wire (cable) that operates the gas cap lock, and when you said you were "trying to find" it, I thought you meant you needed a new one, not that you were just trying to find how to get to it in the car.

Sorry, the rear side panels in my convertible are completely different than your hardtop, so I'd have no idea where to start.

Looking at this:

it looks like if you remove the wheel and inner fender you should see it.
