Also is there a way to let the DRL run with the HID? Thanks.

Daytime Running Lights. When this option is activated by the dealer, the high beams are run at low power all the time.

I have a set of PIAA H7 ion crystal bulbs as my high beams and they are truly incredible (they had better be for the price!).

I don't have DRL's activated, but would suspect that this has more to do with the way our eyes see color and light intensity as well as some properties of light passing through a colored filter. At low power, the amber colored filter is able to filter out more of the white light, making them appear more intensely yellow/orange. At high power, more of the bright white light is able to make it through the filter, making them appear lighter in color.

Have you ever seen someone who mistakenly installed a brake light bulb that was much brighter than stock? When illuminated, it appears pinkish instead of the darker red color. The effect you are noticing is probably working on the same concept.

Has anybody had their friendly, local MINI dealership program DRLs? How much did they charge? Shop rates at MINI of St louis are $110/hour. I don't know if I want it that bad.

Depends on how friendly you are with your service advisor. I think most charge one hour for any programming change. But sometimes bribery works - ask if they'll do it for a couple of pizzas for lunch...

If your bulbs are H&, D2S, D2r, H11 or something like that you could get a set of 3000k HID Xenon. You can find them here www.xenonking.com (USA) or at www.xenondepot.com (Canada)
