Thermometer Chime

Quick question ladies and gentlemen...

I live in St. Louis, MO where mother nature is permanently PMSing. However, for the first time since I got my Mini, the temperature has begun to approach freezing. The other night as I was driving (with the digital display set to speed, not temp) I heard a beep and saw my display switch to temp as it fell from like 37 down to 34 (I was driving into a valley so it was a rapid drop). Anyone experience this? it it because of the rapid change or the approach to freezing? Thanks.

I believe is is because of the approach of freezing (chimes at 36 or 37 degrees F). This little beep scares the hell out of me every time that it goes off.....

That's been happening when I leave the garage most mornings. The trigger temperature must be 36 or 37, then an ice crystal icon and chime. It really got my attention the first time!
