Battery Relocation??

I am working on (in my mind so far) a full stereo upgrade for my 05 S, I have come to realize that I could make great use of that battery well in the back of my car for a sub enclosure ... problem is, what the heck do I do with the current battery? Could I use two smaller batteries, and place them some place else? What are the specs for the factory battery (mine is at mini for it's regular service at the moment, so I can't read the label :>) ....

I just had another thought... would it be possible/practical to make that battery well even deeper?

Hmmm. I am not sure about making the well deeper...but I know Helix sells a lightweight battery and battery box too that I am sure you can do something with. My ideas are relocate the battery to inside the boot, somewhere on the side, that way you will have space in that now empty battery hole for your sub. OR, go with a 1 ball exhaust and move the batter over to one of the empty can spaces and put your sub in the center (now empty) battery hole. OR! Just get a rear seat delete and fab it to hold your subs....just a few ideas. Good luck, and post some pictures when you are done!

Cut one of the pipes?! Egads! I could not do that, it would just be wrong !

Remove the seat... yes, I have thought about that... all kinds of interestin options come to mind... like using the Hertz Mille 21" sub! BOOM! hehe We'll see what I am able to do....

Hello. I am an electrician and can tell you I have read several threads containing the battery relocation. The first thing you should be calculating is the amperage to run your stereo system. And that means with the car off how long can you run it before you run the battery down to were it will not successfully start the engine? I worked in a stereo shop years ago and we were installing secondary deep cycle batteries on an isolator charging system separate from the main battery. I would recommend staying with the stock battery location and upgrade the battery to the largest capacity you can find that will fit in the stock location. If you need circuit breakers and switches mount them out side the battery area say perhaps in the compartment on the drivers side rear. This area can be arranged to house a variety of items for any good stereo system.

Be cautious of the small batteries for stereo set ups. Read the technical information on them or contact the dealer direct with question about your project. Just because it has shown to be done and some vendors offer kits does not mean it is right.
