So let me get this straight - so in my '03 R50 (built 5/03) w/o xenons, I can install/plug 'n play xenons from 02-04 but I cannot install the 05-06 projector units; correct?

I thought this was supposed to NOT work with my car?

Old thread, but very relevant!

Okay, so after lurking this thread, among about 4 others, I thought I came to the conclusion that since my 2003 (10/02 build) came with the halogen headlights, in order to make the 05-06 xenons work with my car, I would have to bypass the computer, or get a flash from the dealer.

1. Halogen

2. 2003 (10/02 build)

3. 2005 passenger OEM Xenon

4. No washers / No levelers

We received a free passenger Xenon, when buying our 2005 MCS. I've always wanted those pretty Xenons on my 2003. The halogens not only suck, but they're ugly..especially next to a 2005/6 with Xenons. Ugh.
I basically gave up after reading all of the threads, and seeing the only person who successfully got the 05/06 Xenons fitted to their car, Burley, had to tear up some 02-04 Xenons, and replace the innards to look like 05-06 Xenons.

Too long, didn't read.. well I just put my 2005 Xenon into my 2003 Halogen and here you go:

I left it on for about a minute to make sure it wasn't going to strobe or anything, then actually turned my engine on and it stayed on just fine.

Only thing I'm scared about now is buying a driver's side Xenon and have them not work.. go figure.

Just thought I would post about this.

Well damn. Now it seems like the 05+ Xenons will work for everything but 05+ Halogens. I want those 05+ Xenons on my GP :(

I tried 05+ headlights in my 03 R50 that came with halogens and mine didn't work.. They flickered a few times and went out. The 02-04 xenons worked just fine. Not sure wtf.. Sara must have the magic touch.
