Best source for OEM Driving Lights

Hi Guys:

I have a "new" 05 Cooper S cabrio, and would like to get the stock driving lights (in bumper). I've seen the lights on Ebay, but not the switches. What's the best source for a full kit without getting raked over the coals? What's involved with getting these and installing them?

Thanks,
Lee

Me, too

I have the same question - my wife would like some driving lights on her MINI, a la "The Italian Job" MINIs.

Where's the best place to get a complete light kit? Opinions?

Cheapest OEM source is probably Classic MINI - mention you're with NAM and get a 20% discount.

I found mine on ebay, but they're not very common.

Thanks for the info. folks. Classic Minis accessory page doesn't seem to be working. In addition, I found out the car has to be REPROGRAMMED for the bloody lights, so just installing them doesn't complete the job. Talk about a racket! Will probably bite the bullet, but this kind of stuff is a bit annoying.

Cheers!

The car doesn't have to be re-programmed after the driving lights are installed. I don't know if people are getting the driving lights confused with the fog lights, but the installation instructions for the driving lights are quite clear on this point.

The install takes a bit of time but it isn't that difficult to do yourself. I did mine the day after I bought the car. You definitely don't have to any reprogramming.

I will be glad to help anyone with the install that lives near me. I only takes a few hours.

Classic is the best place to buy if you aren't lucky enough to see a set on ebay.

I got an aftermarket set from "Autopia" off of Ebay. They looked decent. Going to put a seperate switch in the Euro Parcel shelf. $475 installed is just too rich for the OEMs vs. $60 for the aftermarket ones with LED type "angel eyes". LOL. Hopefully they will work out. I just can't stand the black blanks, and like a little extra light.

How did you wire the OEMs without reprogramming? Did you do this with the OEM switch?

THanks,
Lee

I was wondering what black blanks you were talking about. Are we talking about Driving lights or fog lights?

Sounds like Isnover is talking about the OEM FOG lights (in the lower bumper) vs. the DRIVING lights which mount in the front grill. Cars without OEM fogs have black blanking plates.

Note that the OEM FOG lights are activated via toggle switch, and require BC1 programming. If you're just putting a switch in the euro shelf, you'll be bypassing the BC1.

That's what I was thinking too.

Yes, sorry Fog lights IN the lower bumper (little black holes at the moment). Yes, bypassing the BC1, because programming, switch and installation costs are a bit rediculous.

Anyone else have the Autopia lights?

Thanks,
Lee
