Electrical hid bulbs differences
hid bulbs differences
im looking to buy some new hid bulbs for my mini there are several of them that im looking at but what is the differences in a 3000k bulb compared to a 7000k or a 9000k bulb can some one help thanks
The number refers to the color temperture of the light as measured in degrees Kelvin. The most common are as follows.
3500K (Gold Yellow)
4250K (o.e.m.color / white with yellowish color)
6000K (Pure White - Blueish)
8000K (Purple White)
10000K (Pure Blue)
3500K (Gold Yellow)
4250K (o.e.m.color / white with yellowish color)
6000K (Pure White - Blueish)
8000K (Purple White)
10000K (Pure Blue)
actually the higher you go in the spectrum, the more purple the color gets. it goes from yellow, to white, to blue, to purple.
The best color is really a personal preference. the lower the Kelvin ratings, the more visibility you're going to have. (this is why manufacturers often stick with lower, 4000k ratings.) as you go up, you will lose some visibility especially after 6000k. so you really have to decide what balance you're looking for between visibility and color. you can actually go up to 30,000k which is pure purple, but i would not suggest that unless for show purposes.
you can get fairly good bulbs from eBay for around 80 dollars.

As the color temperature increases, the lumen count decreases which means you'll be sacrificing in light output. The color temperature for the stock bulbs are normally rated below the 5000K. Try not to go any higher than 8000K unless it's purely for show.
