Window doesnt go down. Motor or regulator ???

I went for a ride today, and when i went to put the windows down, my passenger side wont go down. I tried the switch several times with intervals of time in between ands nothing. I remember months ago, my drivers side window wouldnt go down right away, but after 2-3 trys, i finally went up and down like normal. It was as if the window was "stuck" sort of, and then released itself.

So my question is, you guys think this might be a window motor? Or regulator? Is this common with the Mini ? Im right out of warrantee, so i need to diagnose this myself and i dont have a problem installing this myself rather than going to the dealer. If i remember correctly, in my auto dealership days as a parts and warantee administrator, we replaced more window motors than regulators. But those were Audis and Porsche's

can you tell if the motor is trying to move when you use the switch. if the motor is trying to move but window isnt moving than more then likely its the regulator. if the motor isnt trying to move then it could be a few things (motor, wiring, switch). if the motor isnt moving, try hitting the motor with the handle of a screwdriver a few times, it works the same as hitting a starter with a hammer to get it working. if that doesnt work then youll have to look deeper.

Thanks! I will try that.

What sucks is, i gotta take the door panel off and it may or may not fix the problem and i may have to get a window motor anyway. Oh well...
