Heartland British Autofest Days -- Quad Cities, 6-7 Aug
For those who are not otherwise engaged out in the Colorado Rockies at MITM this weekend, sure hope you can join our group in the Quad Cities again for the annual Heartland British Autofest Days. This event consists of a leisurely Saturday afternoon car cruise with a bunch of other cool British cars followed by dinner at a nice local venue. Sunday consists of an awesome car show along the main street in the Village of East Davenport.
EIM will have our "HQ" under our own canopy shelter set up right across the street from our cars in Lindsay Park with shade and refreshments. Bring your lawn chair so you can chill out and relax when you're not checking out or voting on all of the other sharp British cars.
Here are the specifics:
Saturday, 6 August:
2:00 pm - Assemble in the RIA Federal Credit Union parking lot, 110 East 10th Ave, Milan, IL.
3:00 pm - Depart for a scenic cruise to the Factory Restaurant and Lounge in Orion, IL
After dinner - Return to the QC as a group on Rt. 150
Sunday, 7 August:
8:00 am - Car registration begins at the Village of East Davenport
8:00 am to Noon - Registration continues; car detailing and prep
Noon to 2:00 pm - Voting by all participants
3:00 pm - Awards Ceremony (must be present to win)
**Note: The QCBAC prefers that you register by mail in advance so they can plan for the dinner, etc. You can also save $5 if you register prior to Aug 1st. The registration form is attached to this post for your convenience. New MINIs (post-2001) are entered in Class L.
Our EIM Calendar Entry has a link to the QCBAC website with additional information for those interested.
----------
Both days of this Autofest are great fun and a neat opportunity to show off your MINI. Let's see if EIM can take First Place for the third year in a row!

Hey all, we're not spearheading RSVPs for the Autofest since you're already registering through the QCBAC --- but if you're thinking about coming to the car show (either as an entry or as supporting bystander) please feel free to click on the attendance link in our Event Calendar (<-link).
It will help me plan for the amount of refreshments to have on hand (and if you have a libation preference, let me know ).
Thanks!
Hard to believe the Autofest is only 16 days away...

{Gosh, if I'm the sole Class L entry it's going to be an easy trophy!}

Rats...a short-fused family conflict just came up and will prevent me from making the trip to Davenport this weekend... Since I have a paid registration, maybe someone can take advantage of it for themselves.
At least it looks cool enough on Sunday that the canopy won't be too missed. You all know I'll be with you in spirit.

I think spice orange with checkered caps would have won hands down, had one been there. Seriously.
As it was, Juliann's red rocket took 2nd with it's checkered caps. A chili red/white justa took first. Not sure who it was.
We had a great time checking out all the cool cars, talking with interested parties, and people watching while we sat in the shade.

This one did have Illinois plates. It also had a very nice Union Jack on the roof.
