Just installed a couple of Trico Winter Teflon wiper blades (saw them in another thread here on NAM). The wiper blade mechanism is enclosed in a flexible boot so that ice and snow stays out--it's supposed to keep them working properly.

Here's a link if you're interested:

http://www.tricoproducts.com/brochur...location_id=65

After I give 'em a fair test I'll give you a report on the results. Of course, maybe I can't if there's no more sleet or snow for the winter... ...

Well I was bored this evening, and I had the parts on my shelf (ordered some time ago) so I ended up replacing the ugly black plastic plug in my rear Aero bumper cover...

...with a new supplemental, lower cyclops brake light. Pretty easy; less than an hour from start to finish. Done in time to watch The Office.

Remember the Millusions (R) vendor at MTTS in Elkhart Lake last summer? I thought long and hard about purchasing some of their door sill plates but the price scared me off at the time.

I finally got tired this winter of looking at my old, dull ones -- particularly the one on the passenger side which had been installed crooked by the guy who did my Aero Kit install. So I contacted the owner Andy through the Millusions (R) website. He was very responsive and even offered to give me 10 percent off retail. Sold!

I ordered a pair of the Black Chrome Hex MINI plates a couple of weeks ago and did the install this afternoon. Behold:

The only difficult and time consuming part was getting the old adhesive off the door sills. Took a whole bottle of Goo Gone and about an hour a side. But I think the effort was worth it. They look incredible in direct sunlight!

So I have been going back and forth trying to decide what summer tires and wheels to get put on in the next month or so and with the nice weather on Thursday and Friday and the "blowout" sale on tire rack I went ahead and made my purchase. For wheels I got 17x7's OZ Ultraleggera in black and found the Bridgestone Potenza Re-01R's were on closeout sale for $88.00 so I couldn't pass that up. I should have them by the end of the week and then will be having a buddy of mine here in Cedar Rapids do the installation along with H&R Springs and an Alta sway bar and control arms at his shop. Excited to see what kind of improvement in handling all this will do.

That combo is going to look really sharp on your MINI Dan.

How much lowering do expect to see with the springs?

Suppose to be 1.5" but now after reading some other forums I may hold off on the springs. Saw some pictures of another guys and the front looked lower than the back. Plus it'll wear down my shocks a lot quicker, so not sure yet at this point.

Wheel armor arrived today so time to get the spring tires and rims ready and prepped for installing this weekend...

I know its a bit cold for summer tires but I am sick of winter and this is my rebelion. Here is hoping there is no more snow or I wont be moving...

Just got the tires on today. Took it out for spin and I love them. Better ride and very sticky in the corners! Don't miss the run flats at all.
See ya next Saturday.

Hey Brian, after being the only one who showed up on Saturday with the snows still mounted I did the swap today to the new S.drives (are yours 205/50-16s too?). Afterward I took 'em out for a lug nut test on the twisties east of town. Very nice! Even without being fully broken in yet they seem much grippier and responsive than my old Hankooks.

Now that I've made the change, we're probably destined to get a foot of snow sometime soon...

...and since Jan is out of town I spent the afternoon today doing one more thing...the fun never ends.

Here's the original, goofy, and yellowing polka-dot rear aero bumper inserts:

Here's the new inserts I ordered from MINI Pirate over in the UK. The hex pattern matches the front grill work. Very inexpensive. The only hard part was removing all of the old adhesive:

Oh,
and while I was at it:

Thanks a bunch for the new EIM vinyl Rob...it's good to be "whole" again.

Thanks!

And just so I'm not accused of monopolizing the mods thread, here's a snap of TasmanianBlu's spiffy new mirror caps taken yesterday:

Mine are of the 17" variety I noticed a great improvement in corners however a lot more road noise over my all seasons. I am just hoping its the tires and not the wheel bearings starting to fail. Anyone know a good test of wheel bearings to determine if they are on the way out?

Speaking of mods

Considering TSW springs V3, TSW Endlinks, TSW lower control arms, and fixed camber plates Should be able to get the complete set for about 1300 installed and alignment done. Really want to do this but we will see, 3/4" drop shouldnt be to bad even with Iowa winters.

I never thought I would use this thread, but my Clubman has not even arrived, and I'm already preparing mods. CRAZY A JCW grille with a black surround, and black headlight wraps. I would say that it's my second childhood, but I never really felt like I had a first one...

I've always liked the blackout mods with MY...your Clubbie is going to be looking sharp.

You know what they say about the modding bug. Remember that famous Yoda quote? "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."
