Hi All,

Does anyone know if the CooperSE can take the rear bike rack that MINI sells? After a traumatic experience with a roof rack on my old MINI (I drove into my garage with my bike on top of the car and totaled my bike), I'm not super excited about getting another roof rack... I super want an electric car, and would love to come back to MINI, just trying to gather some more info as my search begins.

Unless the MINI bike rack needs to connect to the exhaust pipes, it should work with the MINI Cooper SE as well as any other Hardtop.

 

Following this because I just ordered a 2022 Mini SE and cannot get a straight answer from the dealer on whether the OEM mini bike rack will work with this model or not. An alternative for us would be to install an after-market hitch, but the dealer doesn't know about that either. How are the mini SE owners carrying bikes around?

You could always pop off the front wheel and toss it in the back of the car with the rear seats down.

 

After going back and forth with Mini USA, they realized that they had a mistake on their accessories site and confirmed that the rear bike rack will NOT fit the 2022 mini cooper EV. They have since fixed the site to show only the roof rack, which won’t work for me. So I’ll just have to wait for the car to get here before I can work more on a bike rack or if I’ll need to put the bike in the back of the car. Hope someone finds this helpful.

 

If you install a trailer hitch, you can use a rear mounted bike rack. Here's a thread from someone who added one:

Unfortunately, installing a trailer hitch would require you to cut into the MINI Cooper SE's unique (no exhaust pipe cut-out), lower rear panel. A trailer hitch that emerged beneath that panel would be very likely to scrape on the pavement when navigating a driveway.
There are a couple of trunk-mounted racks for MINI Coopers reviewed in this article.

That site says of their bike rack mounts: "Not recommended with Mini rear PDC."

However, because MINI has recently begun omitting the "standard" rear Parking Distance Control sensors from many MINI Cooper SEs, this caution will not apply to those cars.
