Preformed the JCW CAI Flapectomy today!
All I did was take the flap out and left everything else intact. Sounds a bit louder when getting into it below 4500. Here is what it looks like.

Been contemplating a flapectomy for several months now-so I performed it this morning. Very simple procedure. Did notice a bit more SC whine and was pleased to feel a little more responsive acceleration. Don't think I will ever reverse the procedure.
I just installed a JCW Intake, and I took out the flap from the start. I really didn't want to mess with the electric hook up. After a test drive I think it's going to be fine this way. The SC whine doesn't really seem to come on strong until you get over 4000 rpm, so not that different from the 4500 flap opening. I did hook up the vacuum lines, since that looked like it would be easier to do with the intake removed, and I can just wire it up and insert the flap later if I feel the need.
I think it would be cool to rig up a toggle to activate the flap from the cockpit, either always off or always on. Might be cool to be cruising down the highway and flick a switch to get the SC whine and some extra boost on demand.
It seems like the JCW really makes the car rev nice and smooth. Seems like I'm hitting 6000 rpm much quicker than with the stock intake. I'm pleased so far.
