headers

I'm going to purchase a stage 2 Kit for my 06 MCS from MINI Mania and one of the things it includes is a Borla Exhaust.

I was wondering if anybody knows of some good headers to go with, or if Borla happens to make any, and where i can get them.

Thanx a bunch

Not for sale, but free as the air we breathe.

Really, doing a search on 'header' will find a LOT of information. Snippets of it actually useful as well.

There are basically three classes...

Cheap knock offs... Like the OBX.
Mid-priced, from many vendors. They bolt up to the stock cat back, or at least swap to the cat back at the same location.
Long tube headers like the Stahl Don sells (dmh) or the ones that are getting worked on in conjunction with the M62 dev.

You can also go custom and roll your own.

Now as you read the other posts, you'll have a framework to interpret them on.

What do you want out of your car

and are you rich? If you're rich, then go custom baby! If you're not, then there's no right answer. I'm a cheap person generally, and I started with the OBX, but it has it's issues as well. There are more choices now...

So, here's what I find myself saying all the time now... Talk to your tuner about what parts they've worked with that work well together. If you work with someone with experience, you're more likely to get parts that are synergistic, instead of fighting each other. If you are your own tuner, then that's harder! You have to ask, read and listen then place your bets!

Mini Mania has nice 4 - 2 - 1 headers with CAT but they are a few $$$

I have a MM header with a flange connection modified cat and "test pipe".

My son has an OBX with a flange CAT and test Pipe

A good muffler shop can do a cut on the OEM header / cat and flange it for little $. With the new header mounted.

Hi Matt!

Have you got the Stahl installed yet? I was looking at getting one from Don but I already have a nice Borla exhaust and I am not intrested in split tail pipes....
