Pulley detection

Is it probable that I could install a 15% pulley, not tell my SA about the mod, and continue to receive all warranty benefits with the dealership being none the wiser? Do you have to look for it or actually see the pulley or can they detect it with the OBD for instance. This question is probably for the benefit of others, since when I take the car in and they see the JCW exhaust and CAI , they will probably search for a pulley as standard procedure. But is it possible if it looked similar to the stock pulley, the dealership wouldn’t know?

Possible, but highly unlikely.

Mine, for instance (Alta 15% v2), looks grossly different from the stock pully. Even the uneducated eye can tell the difference without really diving in.

It's really not that hard to open the hood and look down at the pulley and check. None of the aftermarket pulleys look like the stock pulley.

ITs extremely easy to find but 99% of the time unless the mod causes the problem or creates a condition that causes the issue it isn't going to be an issue withthe dealer. And the 15% isn't a whole lot different than a 14.2% JCW pulley so I doubt it would be an issue and if it is the gains won't out weight the hassle. Now if you wanted to drop toa 17 or 19 it'd be an entire;y different story.

Your best bet here may be the GTT pulley, which last I saw was a black pulley installed by heating it...same as the stock pulley...

Throw caution to the wind and forget about the warranty. I mean you bought this car, so you must have a stable means of support. Any issues that my arise wouldn't cost too much. The fun that mods provide, and the rarity of issues convinced me to ditch the warranty. I've had no issues beyond airbag system, which was covered under a separate warranty; the one that they extended for 10 years. You all probably got letters from MINI USA about it.

STEALTH PULLEY....YES!!!

This a great unexplored possibility for you vendors out there.

A STEALTH PULLEY....what a great idea. Make it look like the stocker except the size. I bet you'd sell a ton of them.

If something goes to hell on your SC, they'll take a real close look at your pully...believe me. Anything other than stock and you'll be SOL.

Until that time, chill and enjoy the sensations.

even if you can not see the pully, it will be detected as soon as they drive it around, because of the noise

Because of the noise? Is the 15% reduction pulley significantly louder than stock?

Might want to ask if your dealer is MOD friendly because most dealers install aftermarket upgrades. Luckily my local dealer is MOD friendly.

If warranty coverage is a principle concern to yours why not go for a dealer installed JCW kit. You get the benefit of a reduction pulley, and a warranty. Most of us just found the cost/benefit/risk of the JCW to be too high versus the loss of warranty coverage on our superchargers versus the aftermarket.
