The FAD works
I had earlier reported on tests of my Fresh Air Diverter (FAD) that it produced 2-3F lower IAT out of the IC, and that at cruising highway speeds I often see airbox temperatures 1-2F lower than ambient. Well here's more proof:

That patch of black dirt on the red filter matches exactly the exit duct from the FAD! So now my filter has 2 dirty patches: one at the head where air comes in from the cowl opening, and now this one from the FAD.
Cool!

There's an entire thread on it, actually:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=83505 Of course, it wanders a lot around the topic,
but there's also a description of it on my website:
http://gandini.unm.edu/PGpages/Interests/DFIC.htm
I hope that's enough...well, probably more than anyone ever wanted!

I would love the plastic version--you and I need to get together at the Dragon and fab one up!
We could call it the latest FAD...
Trending Topics
The latest FAD will have to go on the list, I think I can get it thermo-formed.
Man, I have too many projects going right now.

Marcel:
I won't be going to Las Vegas this year--but there will be a big NM contingent as usual to keep you company! I would love to go to the Dragon--would be cool to hang with the big fellas. But it's such a long way from Albuquerque that it might just be infeasible. We'll see. My big trip this year is Italy, followed by a trip home to Australia!
cheers,
