Noobity tranny/clutch question...

As some of you may know, I'm heading out for guam here shortly. The car enthusiasts there are recommending I bring spare parts, as they won't be available there, and the shipping fees and time to get to the island is pretty long.

One of the things they've suggested specifically to bring, is a new clutch. What exactly am I looking for as a 'clutch', because the clutch is more of a system that engages and disengages the transmission, rather than any 1 specific part, right? I'm thinking they mean bring another flywheel, or am I wrong? Help appreciated!

I think I'll pick up a supercharger belt or two... But other than that, I'm at a loss. Anything else you guys can think of that I should bring to ensure a timely repair?

"clutch" usually refers to a clutch kit: friction disc, pressure plate and throwout bearing. Not a bad idea to have a spare where you're going. Good idea on the belts, too. Maybe a supply of oil filters?
Oh, and maybe a good tire repair kit, if the roads are as bad as I've heard.

Clutch kit, spare drive belts, a tensioner and maybe an idler pulley. air filter, oil filters. spark plug insert kit(when one of yours blows out) and spark plugs, brake pads and rotors, tie rod ends....these are some of the common things i've seen that need repair in the first 60k

I'm assuming you're military, if thats the case, remember when you ship your car you will not be allowed to have anything in it except for maybee the floor mats so you'll have to ship the extra parts with your housing goods. I would check with them to make sure you can ship stuff like car parts, I know they wouldn't let me bring my car parts back to the states.. just a little tip, that would suck if you bought all the extra parts and couldn't ship them there :(

EDIT: Just read your profile, you're navy so I would definitely check to make sure you will be able to ship that stuff I just got out of the navy about a month ago myself

Whatever you do do not forget the oil, because synthetic oil will be hard to find.

Good luck out there. I haven't been there in over 30 years. Navy also.

Tie rods? Really?

And I don't know about oil, seeing as how you're not allowed to ship fluids with your house-hold goods in the military, and can't have anything in the car when you ship it. I may be mail-ordering cases of oil. :(

Also, is there such a thing as an aftermarket clutch kit, and if it exists would there be any benefit to changing/upgrading?
