Hello,

I saw the post above about some people feeling our system would be too loud. I chuckled a bit, because many people (this is customer replies via e-mail etc. not forum replies) feel it might even be too quiet. Which when the system was developed was EXACTLY what we were looking to do. We had done extensive driving in our mule using the competitive systems available, borla, magnaflow, and others and our ears felt they were all too loud and blatty. Some even accentuated the annoying high idle drone. Our goal was to eliminate that and bring some soul to the car. (While of course improving HP, TRQ, throttle response etc.) Our system does all that and doesn't drone on the freeway, or have an annoying blatiness at full throttle. So by reading the title of the thread I would think our system would be an ideal choice.

Exhaust selection is a very personal choice. Take TanchoGirl above. Wants something loud and for her I would steer her away from my system and into a Borla or MagnaFlow if she expressed that need via phone or e-mail.

Anyhoo, I encourage you (Phantom) to take a hard look at the ALTA Sport-tone for your car. Good luck and enjoy the drive!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Both intake and exhaust noise is very subjective.

Opinions always vary.

You've got to experience it yourself and see what you think and what will be enough but not too much.

Each person is the judge and there is no real right answer to what is too loud or too soft.

If you are in a big city area you can try to spot MINIs with aftermarket exhausts and talk to the owners.

Otherwise looking for BMW or MINI clubs is a possible way to see some MINIs up close. Going to autocross events is another place to find modded MINIs.

Personally I like the sound of the Alta intake (loud is good for me- it's not that bad)

And I like the Borla Race, the Magnaflow, the UUC for a bit more growl but still fine for daily use with a stock header. It's possible to get more noise with an aftermarket header or header with no cat.

Miltek is in the middle for loudness. JCW without resonator is nice.

Single sided MCS exhausts like the Alta Sportone, Quicksilver, etc are also possible. Biggest advantage is light weight. Some are pretty mellow to slightly loud.

Shop around and check out those modded MINIs. You can find them all over.
