Drivetrain Nos
Nos
By mistake I posted this in the NON - S section. Anyway, are there any folks out there with a simple NOS system on their Cooper S?
I have the CAI, 15% Underdrive Pulley, GIAC Flash installed on my car currently. My next mod is Cat Back exhaust, but after that - I'm done wasting a $1k on 4HP. So I want about 50 more HP...without getting into the motor.
Don't want a new S/C or Turbo Kit. I want some good old NOS.
Anyone out there that can comment?

You could try http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=5523 . This would work with your application with a few minor changes.
This kills me, N.O.S is a brand of Nitrous systems. I don't know why it's used as a blanket term for nitrous
Anyway, I would look into an Nitrous Expres kit. Very easy with amazing results!

Havng raced with Nitrous, some advice - It's not for street use.
First - it puts a h#ll of a strain on your engine. We expected to have to rebuild ours at least once a season (and sometimes twice).
Second - Nitrous is only used for a few seconds, to get a final boost in acceleration, to shave that half/second off your time-trial. Not for continious use, as that would melt your pistons. Even for limited track use, we had to install high carbon pistons.
Third, it is not street-legal in most states. Just having the tank installed in the car, and connected, can be a major fine.
If your racing, it is a cheap speed-boost if your doing the 1/4 mile thing, other than that, not much use for it.

100 passes last year with a 100 wet shot on stock engine & ecu only problem I had was a slither of hose blocked the fuel jet, If i had enough injector it wouldn't of been a problem.

Yea I blew some stuff up but not since 89 (still using a button, still adjusting the FP).

I don't see a problem running a small wet kit if there are people running similar TQ through the drivetrain. you might need to upgrade the clutch, and maybe get a LSD to get the power to the ground (slipping clutches and burning one tire gets you nowhere.)
Get a Venom Recluse 500 kit, and upgrade to a 10# bottle. The Recluse is the best priced kit out there. I got mine for $300 shipped on ebay from Venom's outlet store, and a 10# bottle for another $100 on ebay.
The Venom kit is also the easiest to install, in my experences. With the MINI, you will have to tap into the main fuel line, then run a return line back to the gas tank. With the Venom dry kit you dont have to, and the Venom kit is actually safer than a wet kit, because of the computer.
The law is that the bottle musnt be open. If the bottle is open, you get the fine. Thats why we have remote bottle openers.
The stock clutch should be good to around 250 horse. Anything above that and I would consider a clutch upgrade. I dont NEED LSD in my car, but it would be a nice add on to the drag racer's car.
