Gintani air to water intercooler

What ever happened to the Gintani air to water IC? There were many posts about five months ago and......? I heard their tuner left the company. Are they still in business?

I think the hold up in on the bumper section. The system is ready if you want to modify your own bumper. Give them a call if you are interested .

They work slow, but produce VERY nice products. You should see what RMS(the parent company) can do with an M3.

I have already heard it. A couple angry customers with unreasonable schedules does not constitute a bad business. The products speak for themselves. You are only hearing one side of the story. I have heard the other side, and I will side with Osh.

Thats fine if you are uncomfortable waiting on a project car. They won't let a car leave or sell a product unless it WORKS. Not sure about you, but I would rather wait than buy rushed crap.

And yes, "I" am recommending them.

The bimmer boards constitute a very tough crowd - Dinan has taken their share of poundings there for some real f-ups (remember the Z8 header/frame fiasco?). I was part of a group of M Roadster owners that had horrible issues with their kits and it hasn't hurt their cred any - go figure.

A guy I track with has some RMS components on his M3. He beats the snot out of his car and has nothing but praise for the company and the support they've given him.

Then again, I have never had any dealings with them - the complaints leveled against them may be very valid.

My only interaction with Gintani is that they put a small ding on my MINI door during their rushed dyno party last year.

The intake temps may be lower but do to the lower thrid of the radiator being covered by the Gintani cooler the cars tend to over heat in the hotter climates. We had one with us on a run last year and he had to run with the heater on to keep from over heating . Its the same issue as the water to air systems as they also cover up much of the radiator . Lower IAT perhaps , hotter running motors for sure .

Are you talking about Re-coop?? If so he was having issues about overheating that had nothing to do with his aftercooler...this was talked about in previous threads...Your A/C covers your radiator...does that cause our mini's to overheat to??

It's also worth mentioning that Danny's car ran MOAT (Mother of all twisties) with a blown head gasket and cracked piston rings on all 4 pistons (He has the Gintani IC) and only had to stop twice during the whole run (Both at scheduled stops) to add water to his radiator. If the car can run perfectly fine without overheating with a blown headgasket i'm sure it can handle it when the cooling system is running normally.

I don't know of a hotter climate than a SoCaL summer. It's 100+ almost every day from June to September here in the valley. Hit 115 on several occasions last summer.

According to this post the Gintani is worth 23 hp? You got to love dynos

Now for the bottom line --- results! My car has been dyno'd at Los Angeles Performance Division on 3 occasions prior to this new install (19% + MTH, 15% + MTH, 15% + Evotech). As soon as we get some dyno data with the new system, all results will be posted on the forum. I heard that a car with a 15% pulley, K&N CAI, Schrick cam, and MM exhaust went from 175 to 198 whp with the addition of the Gintani system. I'm sure that dyno details and lots of technical data will be presented once the product is formally launched.
